their wedding was planned for April 2020, as you can imagine that had to be changed due to the pandemic. the wedding was rescheduled for October 2020 but this couple had to pivot + shift like most of the rest of the world once again. I know firsthand that this couple handled the setbacks, rescheduling, and unknown with a sense of humor + grace. it was emotional for all of us when they actually got to say their ‘i do's in May of 2021; my first wedding of the year + first wedding since the pandemic. not the first wedding I have cried at but probably the first time I cried at the ‘first look’. as most weddings go there were some minor setbacks + delays while getting ready which understandably brings on stress. the moment these two saw one another though…all of that disappeared + it literally brought tears to my eyes. it is such a beautiful thing to witness a connection between two people where just being in each other’s presence eases all troubles. there were no dry eyes during their vows at the Providence Art Club where their ceremony + reception was held in Providence RI. the ceremony itself consisted of beautiful readings, music, + a moving choral performance by a few family members + friends. all tied together with stunning florals + delicious cake by Moonrose Farm. this was a great way to start my 2021 wedding season.
baby, we are back + boy have I missed this! from the unpredictable moments to the gritty nooks of the industrial style nylo hotel to the beautiful brick-lined streets of providence to the amazing venue of the providence art club to the gorgeous flowers by moonrose farm + lastly to these two smokeshows. gah, what a wonderful start to my 2021 wedding season. here are just a few frames because we all know it is going to take me a hot minute to sort through all these smoldering eyes.
but for now, let me introduce you to the newlyweds
count me in on any wedding taking place at the griffin museum of photography because first of all i love seeing whatever they have on display at the gallery plus it is a lovely backdrop for intimate unique weddings. i love finding ways to incorporate the hanging art into the wedding story. from its cobblestone front to the quintessential pair of swans in the lake to its ever changing display of artistic photography…it is a win win in my book. then add a sweet, creative, unique couple to the mix + i am in love.
tia + erich had so many personal elements incorporated into their day. their unique shoe choice for one, give me all the brides in boots + grooms in doc martens! erich really out did himself with so many handmade items; the save the dates, wedding invitations, rebuilt tandem bike + welcome sign, name cards, block printed coozies, the back patches + fringe on their jean jackets…phew! i am worn out just typing the list. plus the theme around their love of biking. + a doughnut bar for dessert. oh + did i mention the hand dyed blue roses by friends in the industry [ i see you mandy + whim events ;) ] i could go on + on but i guess i will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
